The experimental facility at UNIBO is equipped with a 30 kW RF inductively coupled thermal plasma source (Tekna Plasma System – PL35 torch), micrometric powder feeder and suspension feeder; nanopowders production can be supported with dedicated reaction chambers, also equipped for diagnostics. A filtering unit enclosed in a glovebox for sampling and packing nanomaterials in inert atmosphere completes the system.
Optimization and scaling-up of the process of Si nanoparticle synthesis in RF plasma systems has been accomplished in the FP7 project SIMBA (http://www.simba-project.eu/).
